"Finals beard"

As the end of the semester roles around for Elliott he becomes extremely lazy with his grooming habits. Don't get me wrong, he showers quite frequently but he fails to shave his face.

I say "Wow your beard is getting really...long"
He says "Do you want to run your hands through it?"
I say "Not really (gag...I mean I love you)"
He says "It's my finals beard, I will shave it after my last final"
I say "When is your last final?"
He says "In three weeks"

That is pretty much how the conversation went this weekend. I kept cracking homeless man jokes while he chased me around trying to rub his face on me.

Later that night I thought Elliott was shaving. This is what he came out looking like.

We had a good laugh. Then I made him swear he would atleast shave on our wedding day.

We'll see what happens.

Decor

I absolutely love the prints from this shop on Etsy.

Such colorful and playful prints that make me smile when I look at them!

Might have to purchase a few for my new apartment...

Jeans Jeans Jeans Jeans

So I got a really funny email from my future mother in law Kim. Her email sounded quite desperate that she was in search for the perfect jeans and asked me, Ariella, and Megan (Noah's fiancee) to accept the mission of helping her find jeans. First of all, my LIFE mission is to find the perfect jeans. It is also my life mission to find the perfect handbag (mom you know what I am talking about), but that is a different post for a different day.

So I quickly replied with some suggestions at Banana Republic because I had been there recently and was very pleasantly surprised with their selection. She immediately responded and brought up a very valid point. What shoes do I wear with these? Men, welcome to the world of women's clothing. Of course I replied within the minute saying "get a few pairs!". I have tried to explain this to Elliott since we started dating (5 and a half years ago!) that I must own multiple pairs for different days and different occasions.

For example: You must have jeans for fat days and skinny days. Sometimes you wake up and regret eating the last cookie (ok there were 3 left but who is counting??) so you need a little extra room in your jeans. Enter: loose fitting jeans. Then there are some days when you are like man did I lose 5 pounds in my sleep! Enter: skinny jeans.* Then there are some days (these are rare) when I feel tall (ok stop laughing). Enter: jeans that are WAY too long on me. More days include rainy days, "I wanna feel cute" days, going out jeans, "I feel ugly" days, "I just want to be comfy" days...the list could go on and on and on. Don't even get me started on the different washes...

So there is your daily dose of fashion tips from Josie...I continue to search for the perfect pair of jeans just like every woman out there.

*Elliott tells me I look the same on both fat and skinny days...I think he needs to get his eyes checked!

Gossip

Ok so I admit it, I LOVE gossip...especially celebrity gossip. I love all the trashy gossip websites and magazines but I came across one story today that made me never want to read any of it ever again. In US Weekly there was an article about Jennifer Aniston. I really only like her because of Friends, but the rest of the world seems extremely fascinated with her even though nothing juicy every really happens to her. Anyways, this article focused on her different looks throughout the years. They bashed her for wearing the same pair of pants in 2009 as she did in 1999. Who cares?! I think that is pretty awesome of her to be able to wear pants that she had 10 years ago!! I wouldn't even dare save pants from 10 years ago let alone wear them (i won't even show a picture, I was 12!).

The next part of the article was a series of pictures where she is wearing scarves. They were like "how come Jennifer always wears scarves?!" I personally love scarves, what a great accessory!! Then they quote some "friend" of hers (probably someone who doesn't even know her) saying that Jen is a "germophobe" and she is "constantly afraid of catching a cold". How stupid!! Poor girl!!! She was probably just cold!!!!

Ok I am done ranting...blah tomorrow is Monday :(.

One of my favorite things

I absolutely love walking outside with Elliott and Zeus. Since this is pretty much Zeus' only form of exercise, Elliott and I are forced to walk him twice a day. We have started to really enjoy it, especially since the weather has been so amazing lately. It is great exercise for us and it gives us a chance to explore the city. There are also so many dogs and people to meet out on the street. Zeus has a million friends just on our block!

We are so excited to move to our new neighborhood and start exploring there. We will be right by the East River Walkway which will be a haven for dog play groups in the summer! I have to admit I am pretty nervous about such a big change, but I know it will be amazing once we are settled. We will finally be able to have places for guests to sit! Although I do still love my barbie size red couch...

Confession

I love sweats. What are you going to do about it?

hello!

So after months and months of avoiding seeing Avatar, we finally went to go see it. I absolutely loved the special effects and thought the world was incredibly beautiful. The story line and dialogue was not the best but the everything else was worth the $15 (of course we saw it in 3D).

We also saw Alice in Wonderland which I LOVED! The acting was perfect and I loved the costumes and makeup. The movie was so quirky and unique. Johnny Depp in my mind can do no wrong!

I am excited for this weekend, I will be dragging my little sister shopping with me on Saturday. She really hates shopping (she is crazy) but always wants clothing. Then on Sunday I will be going to a Bridal Expo with my mom! Hopefully we can sample some good food, watch some fashion shows, and get free stuff!

Couple Things

1. Don't you love our new heading!? The lovely Sam Ortega designed it for us and I just love it! It is so playful! You can read her delightfully snarky blog here.

2. My soon to be hubby (yay) is a horrible liar. We all know he is way more obsessed with Zeus than I am. (ok maybe we are the same...).

3. Tomorrow we are going to go to the famous Katz's Deli for deli sandwiches. Will report back for the couple foodies who are reading this.

Wow...

Josie is craaaaaaazzyy. I probably mention Zeus' name once a week or so, she just goes on and on, it's driving me nuts! I mean, I guess he's alright, but jeez woman.

Zeus

I think I could stare at Zeus for hours. I mean I know I could stare at him for hours. People without dogs just don't realize how amazing they really are. Ok, sometimes cats are cute, but they just don't do it for me.

There is nothing like little Zeus kisses (on my forehead) in the morning. He does this to let me know he is awake (as if I don't already know). He is just the perfect companion (except for Elliott of course).

Things I love about him:

-the way he snores when he is awake.
-how he spreads his toys across the apartment.
-how he waits patiently in the kitchen for his cookie after every walk.
-the way he sticks his paws under the bathroom door.
-how he does "chicken butt" when he is really tired.
-the way he gets so excited every time I come home.
-the way he follows me everywhere.
-how much he loves me.

This list could go on forever but I know most of you are sick of hearing about Zeus (except Elliott).

Zeus, mommy loves you!!
(yes I am crazy)

Valentine's Day!

What a great day! I came back from CT in the morning to find Zeus in a really cuddly mood and tulips (my favorite) on the counter! Elliott and I spent a lot time brainstorming what we wanted to make for dinner. At first the idea of making something new out of a cookbook was so exciting but then I hinted that I really wanted to make pizza.

So of course we settled on an old reliable (Pops' famous pizza). We decided that if we were going to eat a lot of pizza we should at least work out before so we wouldn't feel like fat slobs afterwords. We (yes we...I am so proud of myself!) took Zeus on a 2 mile run then came back and demolished 2 pizzas...1 for each mile right??

We finished our perfect day by watching HGTV in sweats.

Some people might say I like shopping...

Shopping is not just a hobby of mine (ok maybe it is pretty much my only hobby) but a form of therapy. In a way it calms me even though my heart races when I see something I love. I love the comfort of going into familiar stores and the thrill of stumbling upon a new store. Revisiting a store gives me a similar feeling as reconnecting with an old friend. You know what they are all about and you know what sorts of things they carry. When I have nothing to do or am early for an appointment I always think about shopping. I'm like "I must shop!". It's not even that I must buy everything but I always have this urge to see what is out there. You know the people who shout "who are you wearing!" on the red carpet? I would love it if those people were stationed at various corners of the city just so you could know what everyone was wearing. I must keep expanding my fashion knowledge! I live to see what people are wearing!

Apple iPad in the news today

I have been reading about Apple's cool new tablet device for a long time now, and most of the rumors sounded pretty cool. Today I got to read legit information about it, see pics, videos, and all that good stuff, and man am I disappointed. It's literally a ginormous iPod touch/iPhone. It has no camera (I gotta say video chatting with that thing in hand would have been cool!), you have to pay way more just to have 3G, and storage space is pretty low. One cool feature is that it has e-reading, but I can't see that being better than the Kindle since it isn't e-ink, so it would be pretty strenuous on the eyes. As much as I want to buy every single new tech device that comes out, I'm definitely holding off on this one and don't expect to buy it in the future.

Most of my professors don't allow computers in class, so I've spent the last few hours typing up my hand-written notes. My handwriting is so awful I feel like I'm looking at hieroglyphics, most of the time I've spent is on deciphering this strange code that I write in. Is that an a? Who knows

Highlights from the past few weeks

Our holiday break started off at Elliott's grandfather's girlfriend's daughter's (Elliott has an odd family) holiday party back in December. It was a really fun night with presents, strong drinks, and excellent food. These get-togethers are always filled with interesting conversation and a lot of laughs. It felt good to be home.

We also brought Zeus to my house for a few days and it turns out Zeus, Ellie, and Wrigley really like eachother! It took a little bit of adjusting but Zeus started to fit right in. My parents also started to fall in love with him :). There were a couple snow storms while we were home and a lot of snow accumulated. Zeus had a hard time walking through and usually ended up with tons of snow on his face.

My mom also gave Elliott his birthday present that she had been slaving over for weeks. She put together scraps of his old boxers that had funny prints on them. They were always an inside joke between me and Elliott; I would always wonder which funny ones he had on. I ended up giving all of them names! This is one of the best quilts she has ever made and it will be cherished by me and Elliott forever. Thanks mom.

It felt good to be back into the city. We had so much fun home for the holidays but we are both ready to get back into our routine. When we got home from Connecticut all Zeus wanted to do was lounge around...I have no idea why he thought this was comfortable.

This picture is just so cute...every time we blow up the air mattress he thinks it is his own!

This is the newest addition to our apartment. We bought Zeus this gigantic pillow which is probably meant for a dog triple his size. He just sinks into it and passes out for hours!
